Stevie Wonder wrote this song in celebration of the birth of his daughter. He released it in 1976 on his album, "Songs in the Key of Life." One thing that set this song apart, is Stevie played every instrument in the song himself!

The original song was more than 7 minutes long, and would never have been played on the radio, so it was not released as a single until it was reduced to the more standard 3:26 version in 1977. Stevie never wanted to shorten it, but his record label gave into the pressure and the iconic version that we all know and love was born.

I did a special Mother’s Day version of this song, and I hope you enjoy my version, and celebrate with your mom!
