Written in 1965 and recorded by a number of artists, the song did not become popular until Tony Bennet released his version in 1966. Stevie Wonder took it uptown with a new version in 1967, and this one climbed into the top two in the US in 1968.

Many artists have covered it, but I particularly love Vonda Shepard’s version.

Vonda Shepard has sold over 12 million albums, won two Golden Globes, two Emmy awards and two Screen Actors Guild awards. She also won the Billboard award for selling the most television soundtrack albums in history. She is an amazing performer!
