Barry Manilow released this song in 1977 on the “Barry Manilow Live” album, where it was immediately before the smash single, “Can’t Smile Without You.” In his inimitable style, Barry wrote the song on Monday, orchestrated it on Tuesday, and recorded it for the album on Wednesday. It has of course gone on to become one of his most popular songs, and has been honored by being the midnight song on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” on several occasions.
