The lyrics came from a Scottish poem, and were set to a traditional folk song in the 1700s.

In the English-speaking world, it is traditionally played at midnight on New Year’s Eve to say farewell to the old year and ring in the new year.

I’ve performed this song live on New Year’s Eve just about every year since becoming a professional singer. This is the first time I’ve done the full version with its beautiful lyrics, which was inspired by Lea Michele's performance from Glee.

I hope you enjoy my version.
